Wow, what an incredible story I just read. A memoir, The Shadows in My Heart, so inspiring and meaningful it truly touched my heart and soul. Mary Havens’ story is an inspiring and meaningful memoir about unresolved grief, sexual abuse and domestic violent, and religious rules. Mary has gone through so much in her lifetime yet kept moving forward, no matter the pain. She has been on The Oprah Winfrey show and The Mary Hanson show. She has accomplished much in her life volunteering and working with survivors of sexual abuse and domestic violence. In my opinion the definition of a true hero.

There are many things that can change a person and push them to be better. It can be the death of a family member, a divorce, or a loss of a business. This is the story of a man who was fighting not only for the success of his business but also a marriage that was filled with violence and horror. After the divorce Matt Sweetwood became not just the breadwinner but also a Father and Mother to his 5 children. It is the story of a father who didn’t know how to be a father but fought everyday not just to be successful at work but to do everything he can for his children. This book “Leader of the Pack” is a story of disaster to success that should definitely be on your reading list.

She decided to write about women in their forties and gives them the chance to get their opinions out there without any stigma. It is a book about incredible woman over the age of 40 years old given the chance to tell their life experiences, stories and thoughts. The greatest thing that I have come to see is the format of this book which is that every chapter speaks about a specific subject. It’s a book that if you’re only interested in certain subjects being discussed then you can read just that chapter. Kris Macc has done an incredible job bringing this book to life and its perfect for all readers not just for the reader over 40 years old, plus men can read it too (there is a special chapter for men to read that woman want).

Wow, he did it again! Joe Apfelbaum the author of High Energy Secrets, has come out with another great book High Energy Answers. The book addresses the questions teachers and parents are afraid to answer. I just completed reading the book and wish it was available when I was a teenager. As a teenager when it came to questions about education, relationships, personal development and business I had to figure it out on my own. Teenagers now have the incredible opportunity to read a book that answers many of the questions that they would feel ashamed of asking. An amazing aspect of the book is that the author makes sure to give brief answers so it’s easier for the reader to understand. This is a book that I definitely will recommend to teachers and parents to gift to their children and students. It is a fundamental book that is required to have on every family’s bookshelf.

I just completed another great book “A Barnstorm Aviator”. It is a story of an immigrant’s son in the 1930’s who had a love and passion for airplanes and learned how to fly and bought his first plane for $189.00. Don’t forget in the 1930’s most pilots didn’t know much about flying and ride in planes, so every time they made a mistake they had to learn from it or were lucky to survive. It is a book that brings the growth of aviation of the 1930’s in New Jersey to light. The story is written by Nick Vuyosevich by his first Born daughter Nina Anderson, ATP, FAA Master PIlot, who followed in her father’s footsteps and became the first female corporate pilot in New Jersey flying jets, as well has authored books on natural health and aviation.

I just finished reading The Shattered Oak by Sherry Genga. This is a book that gives insight to domestic abuse, divorce, attempted suicide and misdiagnosis of mental illness. As I’m reading this book of this woman’s life the pain she endured as a child is disturbing. She was neglected by her dad because of an unknown reason until later on in her life. As she becomes an adult she marries her “prince charming” but due to being in love doesn’t realize the signs till later, and instead of being treated like a queen, feels more like an opponent fighting for her life to survive. Her prince charming is a man who is physical and emotionally abusive, and it takes a toll on her. After getting divorced, she tries to commit suicide, thank god she survives. Later on in her life she is sent to a mental facility due to her suicide attempts and she gets misdiagnosed and not until later does the nurse realize she is suffering due to the domestic abuse she endured and given the proper treatment to recover. As I read this book, the author brings the emotions of the character to life and truly brings awareness to domestic abuse.

When life gives you lemons make lemonade, that is something that I can completely understand after reading the book The Truth Untold by Lisa Zarcone telling the story of her life in the language of a child has brought me to my emotions and has shown me that no matter what situation we are in we can always make our lives better.

It’s a powerful story of a girl who battles losing her brother to lekumia, her mother’s abusive/manic behavior, parents divorce and so much emotional, physical and sexual abuse. This is the story of a courageous woman who learned to forgive by being compassionate towards the reasoning behind what she went thru. She is a true inspiration to all those that encounter her.

Through her struggles she has grown to be a role model to disable children teaching poetry (amazing ones after every chapter), journalism and art therapy. She is also an advocate for child abuse awareness and has the attitude of “I choose faith and inspiration to lead the way. Lets walk together and achieve the journey”.

It is a story  of  loss, hope and the continuing struggle to keep on pushing in life and finding meaning. In a confused time of an incredibly strong woman who was born in India who gets adopted and brought to the United States by a Jewish Family.

I had the pleasure of receiving this book as a gift. It is a story published by the son Joe Sabrin about his fathers story of survival and courage during the Holocaust as a partisan fighting the Nazis. After his fathers death he found the manuscript which was written in Yiddish and got it translated to English. The great thing about this book is for someone who doesn’t know much about WW2 history there are like cliff notes that are very explanatory. His organization wedaredtolive.org gifts copies of this book to Bar/Bat mitzvah children to educate them.
